Description

This delicious caramel pecan cake is a delightful dessert that features a moist cake soaked in sweetened condensed milk and topped with a rich caramel sauce and praline topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and milk until smooth.
  3. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 28–32 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. While cake is warm, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes evenly across the surface.
  5. Slowly pour sweetened condensed milk over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
  6. Warm the caramel sauce slightly and pour evenly over the cake.
  7. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar and heavy cream. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and chopped pecans.
  9. Spread praline topping evenly over the cake.
  10. Allow cake to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • This cake is best served chilled after it has been allowed to soak in the sweetened condensed milk.
