Description
Delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies that are soft in the center and crunchy on the edges.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (check for Halal certification)
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract until well-combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using).
- Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center.
- Let them cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- For best results, ensure the butter is softened to room temperature before using.
- If using chopped nuts, walnuts or pecans work well.
