Description

Delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies that are soft in the center and crunchy on the edges.


Ingredients

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (check for Halal certification)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract until well-combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using).
  6. Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 9-11 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges but still soft in the center.
  8. Let them cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

  • For best results, ensure the butter is softened to room temperature before using.
  • If using chopped nuts, walnuts or pecans work well.
