Description

This delicious crockpot BBQ chicken recipe is easy to make and packed with flavor, perfect for a weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 can (12 oz) Dr Pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce (divided)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the crockpot.
  2. Pour in Dr Pepper and 3/4 cup of the barbecue sauce.
  3. Sprinkle in garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours.
  5. Once chicken is fork-tender, shred it inside the crockpot using tongs or two forks.
  6. Add the remaining 3/4 cup barbecue sauce and stir to coat evenly.
  7. Let shredded chicken simmer on low for 15–20 more minutes before serving.

Notes

  • This recipe can be served with rice, on sandwiches, or with a side of coleslaw.
  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in barbecue sauce overnight before cooking.
