Description

A hearty and comforting beef and rice casserole, perfect for a family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup long grain white rice (uncooked)
  • 1 can (10 oz) French onion soup
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the dish)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Drain excess fat.
  3. Season the beef with garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  4. In the prepared baking dish, combine the uncooked rice, beef broth, French onion soup, and the cooked beef. Stir to combine.
  5. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 45–50 minutes, until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  6. Remove foil and sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the top.
  7. Return to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
  8. Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
