Description

Delicious and spicy fried chicken marinated in buttermilk and hot sauce, served on Texas toast.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 4 slices Texas toast (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Add chicken breasts and marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. Dredge each marinated chicken piece in the flour mixture until fully coated.
  5. Carefully fry the chicken for about 6-8 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp should reach 165°F or 74°C).
  6. Mix remaining hot sauce with melted butter in a bowl for basting.
  7. Dip fried chicken into the spicy butter sauce before placing on toasted bread.
