Description
Delicious and spicy fried chicken marinated in buttermilk and hot sauce, served on Texas toast.

- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1/2 cup hot sauce (your favorite brand)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 4 slices Texas toast (for serving)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, and pepper. Add chicken breasts and marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- In another bowl, combine flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Dredge each marinated chicken piece in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- Carefully fry the chicken for about 6-8 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp should reach 165°F or 74°C).
- Mix remaining hot sauce with melted butter in a bowl for basting.
- Dip fried chicken into the spicy butter sauce before placing on toasted bread.
Notes
- Marinating overnight will enhance the flavor.
- Adjust cayenne pepper according to your spice preference.
